Thailand’s oil resources are not limited to the Gulf of Thailand. The country also has onshore crude oil fields in at least seven provinces: Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Phetchabun, Chiang Mai, Suphan Buri, and Nakhon Pathom. The most significant is the Sirikit Field, the largest onshore oil-producing area in Thailand. Meanwhile, the Fang Field in Chiang Mai is the country’s first onshore oil field, and Phetchabun features rare geological characteristics on a global scale. Although onshore fields are smaller than offshore ones, they play an important role in enhancing energy security, reducing imports, and supporting the domestic economy.
