Thailand’s Department of Industrial Works (DIW) inspected a recycling factory in Bang Pla Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province following complaints from local residents. Officials discovered a large pile of scrap tires stored outside the building, about two meters high with an estimated volume of around 1,900 cubic meters. The inspection also found tire shredding activities and compressed steel wires extracted from tires, along with unreported modifications to machinery, which may constitute operating a factory without proper authorization.
The Samut Prakan Provincial Industry Office has ordered the factory to immediately stop the violating activities and rectify its operations in accordance with the permitted conditions. Meanwhile, the DIW is preparing to suspend the factory’s access to the industrial waste management system and has requested import invoices related to the scrap tires for further investigation.
