The Cabinet has approved a request to Parliament to continue consideration of 31 pending bills under Section 147 of the Constitution, a provision that allows draft legislation left unresolved after the dissolution of Parliament to proceed without restarting the entire legislative process.
One of the key bills is the Clean Air Management Bill, which previously passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming majority and is currently under Senate consideration. Although concerns have been raised regarding overlapping fees and severe criminal penalties, the government has confirmed its intention to move forward with the bill.
In addition, the Cabinet approved the submission of 10 more draft laws, including legislation on the organization responsible for spectrum allocation and competition law reforms. All proposals are scheduled to be submitted to Parliament by May 12, 2026.
